Islamic Republic to Launch Three More Domestically Produced Satellites From Russia: On December 28, the Islamic Republic will send three domestically produced satellites into orbit aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket being launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East. The devices are intended for use in “agriculture, natural resource management, and environmental monitoring.” Russia had previously launched a communications satellite for the Islamic Republic in July.

Newly Merged Baluch Militant Group Claims Attack on IRGC

A newly formed Sunni Baluch militant group calling themselves the People’s Resistance Front (Jabh-e Mobarizin-e Mardomi) has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s attack that killed four IRGC personnel in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The group, describing itself as a merger of several Baluch factions, released a video on Telegram shortly after announcing its formation, with a masked spokesman saying the operation targeted officers involved in repressing local communities, including during the 2022 protests. The incident appears to be the first major operation following U.S.-designated terror organization Jaish al-Adl’s November 29 announcement of plans to merge with other Baluch groups. Additionally, provincial law enforcement in Sistan-Baluchestan Province also reported separate clashes with an armed group, which left a local police chief “lightly” injured before the assailants fled. Authorities said the gunmen abandoned their vehicle but were still at large.

Tehran Accuses Washington of Violating UN Hosting Obligations

The Foreign Ministry has called for “more serious intervention” from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after Washington barred three employees from continuing to work at the Islamic Republic’s mission in New York. The ministry, in a statement released today, labeled the move a “flagrant violation” of the UN Headquarters Agreement. The statement denounced the decision as an “unlawful and hostile act.” The statement also criticized past measures introduced during the UN General Assembly, including limits on retail access and strict travel corridors, saying U.S. justifications rely on “baseless claims” and political hostility. Tehran warned that it would continue to hold the U.S. accountable for “repeated and ongoing violations.”

Supreme Leader Calls for Overhaul of State Media Strategy

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has urged a fundamental reset of the regime’s media and communications strategy, framing the information space as a key battleground in what he calls an intensifying propaganda war against “aggressive powers.” Speaking at a “passionate ceremony of meditation, poetry reading and devotion,” Khamenei portrayed foreign pressure as part of a long-running effort to erode the nation’s Islamic and Shia identity, arguing that the Islamic Revolution and subsequent decades of “steadfastness” have repeatedly thwarted such attempts. Khamenei criticized what he depicted as coordinated Western messaging and called on religious figures to turn gatherings into hubs of revolutionary indoctrination and to help shield younger generations, insisting the regime must restructure its media apparatus to mirror the “enemy’s formation” and counter its strategy effectively.
